ULTREIA, SAINT JACQUES, BIERZO, RAUL PEREZ 2021
£16.60

Mostly made from the Mencia grape but also including small %’s of Alicante Bouschet, Trousseau, Palomino, and other wild grapes, then fermented in traditional oak vats (ex-Vega Sicilia).

Named after the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage (aka Chemin de Saint Jacques) which passes through the Bierzo region, winemaker Raúl Pérez says ““Saint Jacques is by far the most important wine I make.” Very dry, earthy, vegetal flavours but the wine softens after an hour or so. Light but full of character from intense dark berries. Great wine to accompany savoury food dishes.

ABV 13.5%
