SIMONSIG KAAPSE VONKEL BRUT SPARKLING 2022
£14.70

According to one of the world’s most respected wine websites (https://www.jancisrobinson.com/ocw), the Jancis Robinson team says this sparkling wine  is “spectacular value”.

According to the tasting notes from the Master of Wine who was blind tasting the Kaapse Vonkel Brut, it “smelled like non-vintage champagne…. the yeasty, brioche-like notes were intense…. Quality level: very good. Estimated RRP around £30….”

She was right about everything except the estimated RRP. We sell the Kaapse Vonkel Brut and the Brut Rosé for £14.70 (or £13.97 if buying 6 bottles of more).

Another expert had written “Very classic, and could masquerade as champagne very easily.’

This wine, in fact, is the original Cap Classique, the wine that started South Africa’s Méthode Cap Classique industry before it was ever called that, from the producer that inspired more than 250 other producers to start making traditional-method sparkling – Simonsig.

Frans Malan, the founder of Simonsig, began making and bottling wines in 1968. He released the first traditional-method sparkling wine in South Africa in 1973, originally making it with Chenin Blanc (now with Chardonnay & Pinot Noir) and he named the wine ‘Kaapse Vonkel’ or ‘sparkle of the Cape’.

Delicious over the next 4 to 5 years or enjoy now as they are beautifully developed immediately upon release.
